DIY Wreath

Yes!  Football season!  I know everyone has their own team they support.  In our house, and in any sensible home, it is all about The Ohio State Buckeyes!  I decided to make this wreath to show our support.

For supplies, I used a grapevine wreath (a goodwill find!), wooden letters, wooden football, ribbon with wire, paint, pencil, 2 pipe cleaners, and a hot glue gun.

I started off by painting the background of the wooden letters grey.  I gave them a couple of good coats and then left them to dry.

After the grey had dried, I added the polka dots using a scarlet color.  Not red, but scarlet.  Because I am not artistically inclined enough to make even polka dots free hand, this is where I used the pencil.  I used the eraser end and dipped it in the scarlet paint and then added the dots.

Once the dots had dried, I used the hot glue gun to secure the letters and the football onto the wreath form.

While that was drying, I made the bow.  If you don't know how to make a bow with wire ribbon, this video is easy to follow.  This is where I also used one of the pipe cleaners.

I used the other half of the pipe cleaner to secure the bow to the wreath, then I trimmed the ribbon.

Go Bucks!!
