On My Bookshelf

I'm sure I am the last person in the entire world, but I honestly have not read any of the Harry Potter books, nor have I seen the movies.  I held off on seeing the movies, because I like to read the book first.  If I watch the movie first, I often can't finish the book.  I have decided to read through the Harry Potter series and watch the movies as I go.  I finished the first two books, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.  I have really enjoyed the series so far. The books are so cute and imaginative!

Refrigerator Organization

A problem area for us is always the refrigerator.  We stick things on it, forget about it, and never take it down.  It is bombarded with pictures, cards, magnets, menus, calendars, and basically way too much stuff.  I couldn't take it anymore the other day and just decided to fix it up.  

Here is the before...do not judge, lol.

I know, I know, just way too much stuff.  I cleared it off and got a little crafty.  I used dollar store wood frames and painted them up.  I also used a picture frame and created a menu board.  Here is the after...sweet serenity!

The side of our fridge is now command central.  This is where the calendar is, invitations, menu board, etc.  I feel so much more organized now.

The menu board was super simple to make.  I used a large glass front photo frame, kitchen themed scrapbook paper, computer paper (for the white part), and stickers.  Now all I have to do is write on the glass front with a dry erase board marker and it erases perfectly with no residue!

An Ornament Tradition

A few years ago we started a sweet tradition of choosing a new ornament for our Christmas tree each year.  Each year, we try to choose an ornament that represents something from that year.  Here is our little family tradition...

Our first ornament just had to be an OSU football.  Are you surprised?

Year two was our "we moved to the south" beach flamingo.

Our third ornament was this framed photo of our sweet boy Jake that we adopted.

Our fourth ornament is this sand dollar.  It represents our move closer to the coast.

Year five saw Brad in grad school at ECU.  (Shout out to next week's graduate, by the way!)

This year, we added a special little girl to our family.  This ornament is perfect for her.  From the bow to the hot mess of being wrapped up in the ribbon.  Miss Maggie to a T!
